Song review – Southern Brave’s “While You Can”

Any Red Dirt lover must listen to “While You Can“, the brand new single of Southern Brave, right now. This band from Texas is a great choice if you want to listen to quality music, and their new single is not an exception.

This song is about the pitfalls of love and relationships, and making the most of the time you have while you still have it. If you check it out, I’m sure you’ll have it on repeat all next days. You’ll appreciate its excellent songwriting, the unique voice of its frontman, lead singer and songwriter, Don Stalling, and the impressive quality of the music, with great pedal steel and guitar.

“Hallelujah, I can worship neon lights. They always give me a place to hide. And the church of whiskey always brings me to my knees, it’s the salvation I don’t need”

I’m also sure that you’ll want to listen to more of their music, after appreciating the quality of “While You Can“. Perfect! Check out their fantastic LP, “The Hunt“, recorded at Rosewood Studios, Tyler, Texas, on September 4th, 2020. It includes 8 amazing songs, and among them the impressive “Broken Heart Rodeo” and “Hound Dog” (check out the music video below). Not enough? I’ll not blame you. Listen to their debut EP, “Late Nights and Bar Fights“, recorded at Panhandle House in Denton, Texas, and released in 2019. You’ll be in probably in love with the great single present on this record, “Nashville“.

The band founded by Don Stalling, from West Texas, and Chris Sanchez, lead guitarist, from Fort Worth, is absolutely essential if you love red dirt music. “While You Can” is a brilliant song that is the quintessence of the genre. Just listen to it… and enjoy!
