Anna Wescoat, a Havana, Florida, native artist, released her debut album, “World Famous“, on October 18th. Recorded at Riverfront Studios, in Nashville, it was produced by Ben Jarrell, who also cowrote several songs. If you love traditional country music, with excellent instrumentation and brilliant songwriting, this album is undoubtedly made for you.
“Heartache Home Etc” is particularly outstanding. Cowritten with Bill O’Hanlon and Nancy Deckant, you can check out its behind the scenes music video below. As it happens with all the songs present on this album, you’ll listen to absolutely wonderful pedal steel, thanks to the so talented Steve Hinson.
“Cicadas“, cowritten with Hal Odell and featuring Ben Jarrell, is another outstanding song. The duet works perfectly, with pedal steel and fiddle enhancing the wonderful voice of both artists. A gem!
“My Name Is Known“, cowritten by Ben Jarrell, Brad Lewis, Hal Odell and Zach Henard, is a brilliant song, with wonderful harmonica, thanks to the talented Joe Asselin, pedal steel, keys and guitar. Its final instrumental part is a particularly enjoyable moment for every traditional country lover.
“Right Side, Wrong Way“, cowritten by Ben Jarrell, Zach Henard and Hal Odell, is another gem, with a strong rhythm, great pedal steel and keys, and quality songwriting.
The splendid “Do You Or Don’t You“, written by Anna Wescoat, with wonderful fiddle and pedal steel, and the excellent “Happily Ever After All“, cowritten by Anna Wescoat, Ben Jarrell and Zach Henard, are traditional country gems. You may also appreciate the quality of fiddle when listening to the excellent “Pink Cadillac“, cowritten by Anna Wescoat, Elliot Booe and Max Woolery.
After the excellent title track, cowritten by Karleen Watt and Jeanne Petersen and that features Minnesota native artist Emily Shackelton, the album ends with the splendid “Fare Thee Well“, a wonderful song, brilliantly cowritten by Anna Wescoat, Ben Jarrell and Zach Henard, with a perfect instrumentation, that enhances Anna Wescoat’s beautiful voice.
Anna Wescoat’s debut album is brilliant, with masterful production, talented musicians, wonderful pedal steel all along the record and quality songwriting. After listening to “World Famous“, Anna Wescoat is a name that you’ll keep in mind if you’re looking for real country music.
