This is my first review in almost three months. It’s a very long time, even more with such a lot of fantastic releases all along the summer. At this point, after having been a witness of a summery profusion of musical gems, it’s hard to know where to start.
As we’re entering the fall, let me tell you about an album released at the beginning of the summer. “Had It All Wrong” is the new LP of Will Carter Band, from Texas.
Produced by Derek Hames, this 10 songs album was released on July 5th, via Way Back Records. Most of the songs were written or cowritten by Will Carter, who is a four-time Texas Country Music Association’s “Songwriter of the Year“.
One of the most outstanding songs is “Had Me At Goodbye“. Cowritten by Will Carter with Blake Debina, Bobby Tapia and two of the members of the band, the guitarist Dilland Dostal and the drummer Jacob Lee, it’s a catchy song with excellent lyrics, and a great video that you can watch below. Released as a single, it’s nominated for 2024 best country single at Texas Country Music Awards.
“Wrong Side Of Town“, cowritten with Jude Dyllan, is another standout, with quality music and songwriting, as is also the very catchy “Amarillo Rain“.
The title track, cowritten with Jude Dyllan, and “Just Wait And See“, written by Jesse Watson, are another excellent songs, with great fiddle and brilliant lyrics.
Will Carter Band did a very good job with “Had It All Wrong“, definitely a high quality album, full of catchy songs and excellently written.
